AGE OF DESIGN

Basic propositions

Dassault Systèmes and AutoDesign&Styling, supported by the civic association Czechdesign, announce the second edition of an international competition for young designers. The theme is very free, only restricted to the requirement that the idea should be in the form of a “scenario”. It is set in Prague, an important European city, an inspiring place with a rich history, and a potential seedbed of future trends.


THEME

The scenario of the Dassault Systèmes Design Challenge 2012: Age of Design asks designers to step into the near future and challenges them, through the use of individual objects or products, to present their vision of a modern European city and its inhabitants. What do the cars and other vehicles on the streets of Prague look like? What clothes do people wear? What objects do they use every day, how do they spend their free time? Any single product can be successful. The award will go to those products that tend towards simplicity, uniqueness, utility and aesthetic quality.

CONTEST CONDITIONS

• designers up to and including 35 years of age can participate
• designs can only be submitted electronically
• full propositions can be downloaded after registration at www.auto-design.cz

SCHEDULE

• First round: The deadline for the submission of competition entries is 20 August 2012
• Second round: A three-day final workshop for three finalists to be held in Prague under the leadership of an experienced designer
• Results to be announced in September 2012

PRIZES

• 1st prize – 1,000 €
• 2nd prize – 500 €
• 3rd prize – 300 €
